Assumption Parishioner Shawn Gibbs Nominated Catholic Man of the Year

We are blessed to share the joyful news that Assumption parishioner, Shawn Gibbs has been nominated as a St. Joseph Radio Catholic Man of the Year for the Archdiocese of St. Louis. Shawn, his wife Janell, and their two beautiful children, Faith and Wyatt, have been cherished members of our parish family since 2000.

Shawn’s life is a testament to the power of faith and the beauty of living as a true disciple of Christ. His unwavering love for God and dedication to our faith community shine brightly through his selfless service and leadership. From his work on the parish Stewardship Committee to his contributions to the Strategic Planning Process, Shawn has consistently answered God’s call to serve.

Fifteen years ago, Shawn’s journey of faith deepened through his participation in CRHP (now RENEWAL). Inspired by the Holy Spirit, he joined with other men to establish a weekly Bible study group that continues to nourish souls to this day. His commitment to spiritual growth has also been evident in his leadership of the annual Men’s CRHP alumni retreats and days of reflection, where he has helped countless men draw closer to Christ.

Nine years ago, Shawn co-founded Assumption’s Exodus 90 men’s program, a transformative Lenten journey that has grown from a small group to a powerful spiritual movement for over 40 men. Through prayer, sacrifice, and brotherhood, this program has helped participants deepen their relationship with God and embrace the call to holiness.

Shawn and Janell’s ministry extends beyond programs and committees. Together, they serve on the Prayer Team, offering prayers after Mass for those in need. Shawn also reverently serves as a Eucharistic Minister, bringing the Body of Christ to our parish family.

In his own words, Shawn beautifully reflects, “I am heavily influenced by the stewardship principle that all things are truly gifts from God. EVERYTHING. All that I have, my family, my gifts and my shortcomings …everything comes from Him and through Him. With that perspective, when we give, we are actually just sharing what He has already given.”

As we celebrate Shawn’s well-deserved nomination, let us give thanks to God for his example of faith, humility, and service. May his journey inspire each of us to live as stewards of God’s abundant blessings, sharing His love and grace with all we encounter.

Shawn, along with other nominees, will be honored at a special dinner at the Hilton St. Louis Frontenac on March 22, 2026, from 4-8pm. Tickets are $100 per person. If you feel called to join in this celebration, please RSVP by March 14th by contacting Ray Gerard at 847-638-5242 or St. Joseph Radio at 636-447-6000. Be sure to request seating at Shawn’s table.
