Assumption's Award winning speech team is comprised of students from 5^th-8^th grade.  Students perform 3-7 minute speeches in 3 categories: humorous monolog, serious monolog, and duets. They compete with over 100 schools that are part of the Bellarmine Speech league. Their performances are held on Saturdays at various schools in the St. Louis area three times a year. The final meet is in April and is the "best of the best" with all 100 schools competing at one location.

Speech is for those students who enjoy performing in front of others, as well as  those who need to gain confidence with speaking in front of others.  Speech is a great way to learn to use your voice effectively in the way we communicate with each other.

Practice is once a week, during a student’s lunch/recess period.  A student is not committed to all the meets.  They need only go to one of the three meets to be considered on the speech team.
